Greta Grossman
Descended from Cabinetmakers, it’s no surprise that Greta Magnusson-Grossman would go onto to have such an impact on interior design. A woodworking apprentice after leaving school, she went to study furniture design, winning several awards in the process. She started her own studio in Stockholm, before migrating with her British husband to the US during the Second World War.
Starting fresh, she and her husband opened a studio on Rodeo Drive that focused on furniture and lighting. Due to the location and their excellent designs, the Grossman’s clients soon counted Hollywood stars like Greta Garbo. Among the many creations she worked on in her LA studio, the Grasshopper Floor Lamp is counted as among her most well-known.
Like many of her peers, her interest in interior design became intertwined with architecture, and she designed over a dozen notable houses in her later career.

Grasshopper Lamps
We own all three of the lamps in this series. The floor lamp is particularly cool. All of the lamps are well constructed and made from solid materials. The design is simple and modern.
