Pierre Jeanneret

Pierre Jeanneret

Pierre Jeanneret was a Swiss-born Architect and designer most known for designing the Gandhi Bhawan building of Panjab University, India.

A long-time collaborator with his cousin, Le Corbusier at the Le Corbusier-Pierre Jeanneret studio, Jeanneret's most remarkable contribution was the designing of the fourteen categories of mass-housing of living areas in Chandigarh, India. After its construction, Jeanneret remained in Chandigarh, and was inspired to create the Chandigarh chairs, unofficially dubbed the "Jeanneret Chair".

Influenced by campaign-style furniture, Jeanneret work celebrates the beauty of natural wood. Recently, his solid wood and cane designs have been newly embraced by lovers of simple, strong silhouettes and natural materials.
