Interior Icons vs Traditional Retail
By cutting out the middle men and traditional 200-400% markup, we’re able to offer you beautiful, lasting designer furniture at exceptional value.
Celebrated for his prolific multi-decade career in architecture, art, and furniture design, Le Corbusier is widely known for his many contributions throughout the 20th century. Born in Switzerland in 1887 as Charles-Edouard Jeanneret-Gris, Le Corbusier began investing his time learning to enamel and engrave watch faces at the age of 13; these processes happened to be his father’s specialty.
The designer went on to develop a unique vision for innovation in urban areas, effortlessly replacing traditional designs with revolutionary architectural contributions. He was intent on redefining architecture to meet the needs of city dwellers in the new technological age. In 1923, he eloquently described his drive to facilitate change in the world of design, stating “Modern life demands, and is waiting for, a new kind of plan, both for the house and the city.”
When Le Corbusier was just 18, he built a home for one of his teachers. Not long after, he relocated to Paris to study under pioneering architect, Auguste Perret. Here, Le Corbusier learned to work with reinforced steel and concrete.
Over the next several years, the designer immersed himself in various design practices. In Berlin, he learned everything there was to know about machine design and industrial processes from German architect, Peter Behrens. Later, in 1917, he developed the Purism painting concept alongside French painter, Amédée Ozenfant. He went on to write many books, and he collaborated with fellow designers to create innovative and eye-catching furniture pieces.
Along with his cousin, Pierre Jeanneret, and Charlotte Perriand, Le Corbusier designed stunningly sleek seating solutions in which he utilized tubular steel and natural hide. In addition to his many offerings to urban spaces, Le Corbusier’s contributions include a plethora of interior designs and modern art pieces.
Sadly, the designer’s life ended tragically in 1965 while he was swimming in the Mediterranean Sea. Still, his legacy lives on through his beautifully unique, iconic designs.
Overall happy with the purchase, with expected high-quality leather that looks, feels and smells wonderful. Design overall is beautiful. Ours arrived with a small defect on the front of one arm where the dye missed a spot, leaving a thin white line. One arm appears to tilt inwards as well but will likely settle with time. Leather doesn’t puff out as in advertisement photos, so less plump and plush in that way, and more blocky foam feel, but again, may settle out with use. Although I paid careful attention to measurements before selection, only on arrival, I realized how mini it is - not for a large person; and style only reaches mid-back, max. So I do love it, and it looks great, but little aspects detract. As such, seems too pricey in the end. Lastly, you will need a crowbar to open the nailed wooden box it comes in - great protection but wished I had a gorilla to tear apart the packaging. Suggest finishing with screws rather than nails. Otherwise delivered on schedule after a long wait, with nice updates along the way.
We love our couch and chair. The quality of construction is excellent and the packaging for shipping was well done. Our only reserve was the amount of time it took from the day we placed the order until delivery. That was a long time to keep our investment without interest. We were also quite surprised that they were manufactured in China. We thought that they would have been manufactured in the United States.
I was not expecting what I received. The quality is really good we are super happy with our piece.
Took forever to receive my furniture and that is a result of shipping/ stock issues not their customer service. Other than that I am so pleased with the quality and construction of these pieces. Thanks !! Will definitely be buying from them again very soon.
I have ordered multiple times from your website, and I'm always happy with my items. The Petit Confort Chair is gorgeous in person. It looks expensive, but the price is reasonable. I'd recommend it. As I've mentioned in other reviews, delivery takes time, as the furniture is custom made.
